IWSDA'05 will be held at Shimonoseki convention center (8F) beside Kaikyou Yume Tower in front of JR Sjimonoseki Station on Sanyo Line in Shimonoseki.
We recommend going to Shimonoseki by using Shinkansen from the Fukuoka International Airport or Kansai International Airport.
  • Shimonoseki convention center is a 5 minutes walk from JR Shimonoseki Station, or 25 minutes by taxi (about 3,000 yen) from Shin-shimonoseki Shinkansen (bullet train) Station of Sanyo Shinkannsen. Please click this link, if you walk from JR Shimonoseki station to Shimonoseki convention center.
  • JR Shimonoseki Station is 8 minutes by train from Shin-Shimonoseki Shinkansen, 15 minutes by train from JR Kokura (Shinkansen) Station, or 75 minutes by Limousine Bus (1,400 yen) from Yamaguchi Ube Airport.
If you use the bullet train "Shinkansen", you should ask about a train ticket to go to JR Shimonoseki Station to a salesperson at "Midori-no-Madoguchi" in a JR station.
The train ticket should satisfy the following demands:
  1. The destination is JR Shimonoseki Station,
  2. There is little number of times which changes Shinkansen,
  3. There is sufficient time for changing,
  4. You can arrive as early as possible.
If you use Shinkansen "Kodama" which is a type of trains, since the seat is fully vacant, it is not necessary to buy the ticket of a reserved seat.

My return flight is at 7:00 am from Fukuoka Airport. Thus, I should be at the airport by 5:00 am. Is it possible to go by public transportations (train, bus) to the airport so early to get this flight? Or do I have to take a taxi. If yes, how much cost the taxi? Is it possible to arrange some trips on location for my companion? Two people come along with me.

You should stay at a hotel in the Hakata city (Fukuoka). The taxi fare is about 2,000 from Hakata Station to the Fukuoka international airport (Taxi fare is not clear. ).

I have a question: I arrive at Fukuoka by 20:00 pm. Is it possible to go by public transportations to Shimonoseki on the same day or should I stay at a hotel in the Hakata city, too? Thus, can you sent me a timetable of the train (Shinkansen) (from Fukuoka to Shimonoseki and back) and of the shuttle bus. Is it right, that I have to go from Fukuoka by shuttle bus to Hakata (Hakata Station Bus Terminal) and then by train (JR Sanyo Shinkansen) to Shimonoseki (Shimonoseki Station)?

If you have enough time, I recommend you stay at Fukuoka, because Fukuoka is a beautiful and big city, and I think that you can enjoy here. I just search a timetable as follows.

0) Fukuoka International airport (shuttle bus (free): 10 min. 0JPY)

1) Fukuoka airport (domestic) - Tenjin ( Subway: 11 min. 250JPY)
Tenjin - Fukuoka Bus Center (3 min by walk)
Fukuoka Tenjin Bus center - Shimonoseki Bus Station
